To enroll in this course, you must have completed the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course.
Our comprehensive course spans at least 16 hours (24 hours including the Basics of Pistol Shooting & Basic Instructor Training). It combines classroom learning with hands-on range time, focusing on teaching how to handle and shoot both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.
Instructor Candidates will learn:
NRA’s rules for safe gun handling
Pistol parts and operation
Ammunition knowledge
Shooting fundamentals
Range rules
Shooting positions: bench rest and two-handed standing
Cleaning the pistol
Continued skill development
To qualify as an NRA Instructor:
Solid Background: Candidates must demonstrate a strong foundation in firearm safety and shooting skills from previous training or experience.
Familiarity with Firearms: Candidates should be well-versed in each action type in the discipline they seek certification for.
Demonstration of Skills: Candidates will undergo pre-course questionnaires and qualification exercises to exhibit safe firearm handling skills.
Completion of Training: Candidates must successfully complete an NRA Instructor Training Course in their chosen discipline (e.g., NRA Basic Pistol Course) and receive an endorsement from the NRA Training Counselor.
