Prerequisite: To enroll, you must have an active Certified Pistol rating and complete the student-level NRA CCW Course as per NRA Training Policy.
Course Overview: This course is designed to certify NRA CCW instructors and may be conducted in three parts:
- Basic Instructor Training
- Discipline-Specific Instructor Training
- Live-Fire Range Instructor Training
Instructor candidates will participate in practical exercises to develop their teaching and organizational skills and must pass a written certification exam. Additionally, candidates must pass the CCW Instructor Level shooting qualification.
Course Focus:
- Applying NRA rules for safe gun handling when carrying a concealed firearm
- Understanding basic principles of concealment
- Difference between cover and concealment
- Drawing from a holster
- Levels of mental awareness and mindset for personal defense
- Clearing common stoppages and more
Upon completion, you will be equipped to teach concealed carry with confidence, responsibility, and ethical consideration.
Required Materials:
- Quality pistol suitable for concealed carry (minimum of 9mm or .38 Special)
- Quality strong-side hip holster (form-fitted leather or kydex recommended, must cover trigger/trigger guard)
- Quality belt designed to support a holster and firearm
- 300 rounds of practice ammunition
- Spare magazines or speed loaders with pouches (minimum of 3 magazines or speed loaders total)
- Clothing appropriate for concealed carry, including a cover garment (mandatory)
- Eye protection
- Hearing protection (electronic recommended)
